Scott Drewery and Tom Hinton from Accio recently attended the official opening of the newly refurbished coronation gates at Barroway Drove Village Hall. Accio were delighted to learn last year that the villagers in Barroway Drove where we are headquartered, were planning on restoring the ornamental gates that were installed in 1953 to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth the second.
Accio were only too pleased to support this project after learning that the gates came down around 2003 and fell into disrepair. It was clear that a fund raising opportunity was needed and in July 2023, Accio entered a team into a local 5 a side charity fund raising tournament in Norwich where we successfully raised £600 towards the restoration by a local craftsmen Mark Farrow.
Mark supported by local Coach Builder Gary Bishop set about the restoration with care and dilligence. ” It took us about 3 months on and off” said Gary with Mark providing the welding skills to replace all the curls.
