Accio Consult and Construct staff had a successful day out at the Norwich Business Fives, a 5-a-side football event on 15th August comprising 20 teams from local businesses aiming to raise funds for good causes across the region. Accio’s generous sponsors raised £600 in support of Barroway Drove Village Hall, placing them second in the fundraising stakes across the companies taking part in the event. Accio subsequently presented a cheque on Monday 4th September.
The Business Fives event group holds several 5-a-side events across the country and the competitions are always expertly organised, great fun and raise much needed funds for local good causes across Britain. Accio assembled a squad for the Norwich event with the impressive age range of 21 to 58 years old, putting in a valiant effort to reach the quarter finals of the Europa Cup section of the draw. Accio staff attended as both players and spectators to add to the atmosphere and a great day was had by everyone.
The donations received from across Accio’s big-hearted network of clients, suppliers and supporters will enable Barroway Drove Village Hall to complete the restoration and re-installation of their Coronation gates project. The gates were initially installed for the Queen Elizabeth II coronation in 1953 and the aim is to have the gates reinstalled in the Coronation year of King Charles III. Upon hearing of the village hall aspiration, Accio offered to help raise funds to complete the project in time. The money raised will be used for all materials, plant and labour associated with the final installation of the gates on site, including the supporting pillars upon which the gates are to be mounted.
Accio staff were keen to assist, and the money raised will now allow the gates to be formally unveiled in an opening ceremony to be held later this year.

Former Norwich, Newcastle and England international footballer, Raul Fox was present at the event and awarded trophies at the prize giving ceremony. It capped off an excellent day in Norwich, which successfully combined enjoyment, competitive spirit and fundraising into a single event.
